No rest for the wicked, LOL

Posted in Unspecified

Well, I made it through this cold. Barely. This is the first day that I feel really good, so I'm taking full advantage of that! Thanks for all the well wishes guys...:)

Now I have to concentrate on all the activities coming up. I have a dance recital to go to tonight for my niece. This always last almost 4 hrs. Uggg! Oh well, I need to put on my happy face.

Next weekend is my sister-in-laws 50th birthday bash. The weekend after that is my brothers wife's Baby Shower. It will be at my house, so I will be busy preparing for that. Here a few of the items I've bought and made for it so far.

THIS IS ONE OF THE FAVOR BAGS.

INSIDE, WILL BE A HANDMADE SOAP AND A TRUFFLE BOXED UP BY "SEE'S CANDIES"

WE ALREADY KNOW IT WILL BE A GIRL, SO BOUGHT THESE PLATES.

I HAD THESE FROM ANOTHER SHOWER, SO I'LL PUT THESE AROUND WITH MINTS IN THEM.

EASY SHOWER GAME..

I'LL FILL THIS BOTTLE WITH JELLY BEANS AND THEY CAN GUESS HOW MANY ARE IN THERE.

The games have to be pretty simple, her grasp of the English language still isn't that great, so I thought these would be easy enough to explain.

If anyone can come up with any good shower munchies, let me know...:)
Aso, any other good ideas for a baby shower, pass them on!

Looks like you have verything under control. Are they having their own or adopting? I made party cups from pieces of flannel cut into a triangle, and brought together like a diaper and pinned with a little brass safety pin, then I had to dip them into melted wax. Believe me they were a pain, but did look cute. I've only done it twice, way too much trouble.

Another game could be, putting baby items onto a tray, passing the tray around and then putting the tray away and have people write down how many items they think they saw. Like a baby bottle brush, pacifier, baby comb and brush, baby nail clippers, baby wash cloth, cotton balls, baby lotion, and etc. Of course all the items go to the Mother, after the game is over.

Glad you're back up & runnin', Laurie !

Asking Cam for baby shower ideas is like asking a brick for some mustard.

Cam - 1:53 PM - 6/17/2008

ie ie capton

darkstar - 2:31 PM - 6/17/2008

All of that looks good! Those favors are going to be really cute:) It'll be a nice shower, even if it is a small one.

Glad you're feeling better!

lisalisabobisa - 9:47 PM - 6/17/2008

Glad to hear/read you are well again.

4 hours of dance recital. Geeze, i hope your make up has something to keep on that smile on your face. :-)

The baby shower seems to come along. All looks in order. But dont ask me for ideas because all i can come up with is spin the bottle or thruth or dare (i would have said "a stripper" but then realized that such baby shower is mostly a women's affair). :-)

What a great idea to have a baby shower! we don't have that in Holland, but we eat Dutch rusks with aniseed comfits when the baby is born. Pink for a girl and blue for a boy. W

Games - Take baby diapers and add a scent to them, pass around and guess what the scent is. example - chocolate, baby powders and so on. It's a favorite of ours. Glad you are feeling better. You have a busy time ahead of you. Have fun ~hugs & love~

windy - 4:58 AM - 6/18/2008

Patty---They're having their own. She's been pretty sick throughout the whole pregnancy though...

Those baby items on a tray sounds like a good idea!

LauriesAsylum - 8:47 AM - 6/18/2008

Cam---LOL, are you sure you don't have an idea? Hahaha

LauriesAsylum - 8:48 AM - 6/18/2008

David---No ideas? shame on you and Cam....:)

LauriesAsylum - 8:49 AM - 6/18/2008

Lisa--well, with Doreen, Nancy, Hillary and Ashly coming, that will be ok. She would be overwhelmed if there were too many I think. You know how she is...:)

LauriesAsylum - 8:50 AM - 6/18/2008

Logis--Haha, no can't have spin the bottle or a stripper..:)

That would be fun though!

LauriesAsylum - 8:52 AM - 6/18/2008

Wil--That's interesting. Are those corn husk?

We asked her if they had Baby showers in Russia and she said yes, so we were pretty safe in giving her one...:)

LauriesAsylum - 8:53 AM - 6/18/2008

Windy---That's a another cute idea! Thanks!

LauriesAsylum - 8:54 AM - 6/18/2008

rest what's that?

Somepoet - 3:51 PM - 6/18/2008

Somepoet--Yeah, you must be really busy, never see you around anymore!

LauriesAsylum - 11:47 PM - 6/18/2008

As for munchies, hmmm ... Well, l like pizza rolls. How about some Cheetos? Something that will put a nice orange dusty coating on everything.

And as for entertainment ... maybe you can get the room very dark, just have a candle burning in the middle of floor, everyone get on the floor and take turns telling baby horror stories.

Four-hour dance recitals! You deserve combat pay!

drdog - 5:40 AM - 6/19/2008

Here is an example of Dutch rusk with aniseed comfits. It's not made of corn, just flower. They are baked twice

readerwil - 6:19 AM - 6/19/2008

Peter---Oh, pizza rolls, yum!

HA!, I bet we could come up with some good horror stories! I'm not sure she'd like that though, LOL.

LauriesAsylum - 12:43 AM - 6/20/2008

Wil--Oh, those are so pretty! Do they taste as good as they look?

LauriesAsylum - 12:44 AM - 6/20/2008

If you like aniseed! They taste nice, but when we treated the Australian visitors who came to admire my granddaughter, some of them made a funny face. I said that it was compulsory to eat them and they did!! LOL

readerwil - 3:43 AM - 6/20/2008

Glad your feeling better!

I'm in the same boat as Cam...not a clue about baby showers...How do you get the little buggers to stand still while you shower them? Shouldn't they start out in tubs?

littleMissConfused - 7:43 AM - 6/21/2008

Well I've been away for a while so I'm just now playing catch up but glad that you're feeling better....especially since you got quite the schedule coming up. I know well the 4 hour recital things, kinda glad those days are over.

Oh....sorry, can't really help ya with the "baby shower" thingy. What the heck would a dummy-headed 'ole guy like me know anyway? I dunno....maybe a Playstation 3? lol

Rubicon - 1:29 PM - 6/21/2008

Wil---I've never had those seeds, but they look good enough to eat. Are they sweet?

LauriesAsylum - 8:50 AM - 6/23/2008

LMC---LOL!

LauriesAsylum - 8:51 AM - 6/23/2008

Michael---Who's a dummy? Not you!

Haha, no, I don't think a play station will cut it at a baby shower...:)
