I'm ready for some soup!

Posted in Unspecified

Blech, I only have a cold, but it's sucked every bit of energy out of me. I didn't go to work yesterday and I'm not going in tomorrow either. I would have gone in if they'd insisted on it, but they said no, they're afraid the elderly couple I take care of will catch it. Good...

I was speaking to my sister today, and when we figured out how much weight loss I've had since Feb. 17th, and especially the past two weeks, We're wondering if maybe it's taking a toll on my immune system. I've been feeling dragged down the past two weeks and I look worn out and tired. I think I might take a month break, let my body rest and then go back on the plan. It certainly won't hurt anything and it will give my metabolism a small rest. I just paid for this month though, so I'll have to go in and talk to them and see what we can come up with.

I don't know, maybe that doesn't have anything to do with it, maybe it's just time for me to get a cold!

We've been working on one of our showers, the door was broken and the fiberglass bottom was a mess. My husband did the majority of the work, sanded and scraped the fiberglass and put primer on it. He just got done putting his fourth coat of paint on it, and it looks brand new! He saved us almost $400.00, because that was the estimate given to us when I made some calls for someone to do it.

We ordered a new shower door. Grrr, that was expensive. But, my husband has always wanted the glue chip glass and decided if we had to get a new door, he was going to get what he wanted. Good, I don't care, he has to pay for it, haha. I certainly can't afford it.

Anyhow, here are before pics. before the shower door that is. I forgot to take one of the shower pan before he did it.

This next pic shows a little bit of what I mean by Glue Chip glass. The one I picked out is less leafy and more spread out, but this kind of gives you an idea. We'll have the new door next Tuesday and I'll take a pic then.

Well, I'm off to have some tea and toast and get back to my book.... Oh, soups sounds good too!

I hate colds, it takes forever to recover from them. Tell Paul to go up to Vons and get you some chicken noodle soup. The bathroom is going to look nice when it's done!

lisalisabobisa - 7:53 PM - 6/10/2008

Sorry you're illin', Laurie !

Do you take multi-vitamins and stuff ?

Just wonderin'...

That bathroom is coming along nicely !

lisalisabobisa - 8:58 PM - 6/10/2008

Cam - 8:59 PM - 6/10/2008

lisalisabobisa - 9:00 PM - 6/10/2008

Yeah, what she said....

LauriesAsylum - 9:01 PM - 6/10/2008

Chandramoon - 1:21 AM - 6/11/2008

After reading the comments ...

*eats mushroom soup with cream *

Get well soon, Laurie.
Yep, sometimes a diet can hamper your imunesystem. Also there is less fat to keep you warm. That and the fact that your body is trying to cope with less food to put into energy makes you a little weaker then you are use to. But then again, colds are all around so i guess you are one of the unlucky ones.

logis - 1:42 AM - 6/11/2008

You are right about your immune system while on a diet. It does drag your body down. I had to break from mine too. I guess mine was such a shock..hahaha ! (losing the weight) . Anyway, hope you get to feeling better. now go eat ;) the shower looks great ! ♥

windy - 3:06 AM - 6/11/2008

Take care Laurie! A diet is okay, but don't lose too much weight in such short time. Take nice soup, any soup!

readerwil - 3:44 AM - 6/11/2008

hope you feel better.

birdsnest - 4:27 AM - 6/11/2008

Hi Laurie,
Sorry to hear that you wasn't feel good, speedy recovered . Don't lost too much weight because it is not good for you. Take care

Marsha - 4:59 AM - 6/11/2008

I hope you are feeling better!

Argh! bathroom remodeling....I think I just had a flash back of ours! I hope yours goes much smoother and doesn't take as long!

I love that style of door! We almost got that one but it would have taken even longer to come in (it was a special order thing) As it was I had to wait an extra week for our shower door to come in and I was already sick of using our temporary shower!

littleMissConfused - 6:07 AM - 6/11/2008

Back off on the diet a little. You're not in a race to lose weight. So give the diet a mini-holiday and get well. You have been doing so well, I don't want you to abandon all the good you have done for yourself.

Colds happen ... but, yeah, you could be reducing your immunity as you lose the weight. Unfortunately, the two seem to go hand in hand.

drdog - 7:45 AM - 6/11/2008

Hope you get to feeling better real soon. I don't know why dieting (if you're really going at it) couldn't lower your resistance. Hope you're feeling better soon.

About the outhouse, if they are well ventilated and kept clean they really aren't that bad, better than sitting in the open in the woods. LOL But a real bitch in really hot weather or extremely cold weather.

Patty - 7:47 AM - 6/11/2008

Get better soon. Take care of yourself.

slayerbarbie - 7:02 PM - 6/11/2008

OH HELL.....I just touch the computer and get your ding-dang cold. THANKS Laurie-doo-doo!!!!! LOL!

Rubicon - 2:41 AM - 6/14/2008

Chandra---I feel much better now, that cold almost did me in!

LauriesAsylum - 11:05 AM - 6/17/2008

Logis--*eats mushroom soup with cream *

Now my stomach hurts, haha.

I think I just got a cold. I hardly ever get sick, so I thought maybe my diet had something to do with it, but the people at the clinic I go to, said to stay on it, so I will!

LauriesAsylum - 11:07 AM - 6/17/2008

Windy---They're putting in the shower door right now, I can't wait to go in and see it!

The people at the clinic said they don't think I'm rundown from the diet, I just got a summer cold. so I'm sticking with the plan!

LauriesAsylum - 11:09 AM - 6/17/2008

Wil---I had chicken soup three days in a row, lol. I swear it is a miracle drug though!

LauriesAsylum - 11:10 AM - 6/17/2008

Chris---Thanks....:)

LauriesAsylum - 11:11 AM - 6/17/2008

Marsha---Thanks, I'll look at all your pics today, this is the first day that I feel like doing anything. I'll let you know after I look at them...:)

LauriesAsylum - 11:12 AM - 6/17/2008

LMC---Yeah, I remember your temporary shower, LOL. This door only took a week, so I was happy! They're putting it in today, so I'll have to post a pic!

LauriesAsylum - 11:13 AM - 6/17/2008

Peter---I think I was rundown for sure. The couple of days before I came down with the cold, I was extremely tired and lethargic. I actually stayed that way for the past week, LOL. It was not a pretty sight.

I did take a break from the diet all last week, but mostly ate chicken soup. That really helped!

LauriesAsylum - 11:16 AM - 6/17/2008

Patty---The thing I hated about my grandfather's outhouse, was that he kept this wooden box in the bathroom (he had no indoor pluming to the bathroom) and that's what you went in and then you had to carry it outside in the morning. I hated that!!

LauriesAsylum - 11:27 AM - 6/17/2008

Demetrius--Thanks, I'm feeling much better....:)

LauriesAsylum - 11:28 AM - 6/17/2008

Oh dear, Michael-bee, I hope you didn't get my cold, lol.
